Biography

I am a Social Scientist specialized in International Law and Diplomacy among others. I have a great passion for academe and enthusiastic about achieving my vision as a world class scholar in peace and conflict, refugee law, migration law, Responsibility to protect, development studies (Land Grabbing) and Governance – pushing the limits of innovative scholarship and promoting impactful teaching in higher education. My proudest achievements are with manifold post graduate degrees in Sociology, Law, Government, Public Policy, Criminal Justice, Governance, Peacebuilding, Migration, Social Work, Social Policy and International Relations.

In addition to my research on peace and conflict, I am committed to creating space for conversations about Africaโ€™s challenging issues, such as development, poverty alleviation and good governance. I have convened workshops related to refugee protection, International relations and migration in the European Union and Africa. I have presented guest lectures and seminars at amongst others, the Universities of Granada, Zaragoza, Bochum, Ghent, Mary Immaculate College, University College Cork, Oxford, Regents University London, Northampton and CEU San Pablo University Madrid.

I have received many awards: A recipient of MO Ibrahim Foundation residential school on governance and development in Africa, a recipient of European Academy of Diplomacy award for the best candidate in the European diplomacy and foreign policy workshop, a recipient of the Allan & Nesta Ferguson Trust award, the European Graduate School for the Social Sciences (EUSOC) scholarships, the University of Tuebingen & Max Planck Institute for the study of Ethnic Diversity award and finally the Swedish Institute Alexandria University of Twente award and Marie Curie short term assignments.

Selected as a Republic of Ireland representative for an international study delegation to Turkey in 2015, awarded by the Republic of Turkeyโ€™s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I have also published two books on Responsibility to protect. I worked (volunteer) for CARDOZO School of Law โ€“ Human Rights and Genocide clinic. I have attended courses and conferences in Serbia, Finland, Germany, London, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Czech Republic the list goes on.
